First responder assessments.
Assessment enquiries that recognize the context and demands of emergency-response work.
The work context matters
First-responder roles can involve demanding situations and repeated exposure to distressing events. When seeking an assessment, the useful starting point is the question to be considered: personal mental health concerns, a work-related referral or a request for information from another party.
First responders can contact Ramsay & Associates about psychological assessment. The team’s work includes trauma, anxiety and PTSD-related concerns. Discuss your assessment enquiry and the clinician availability relevant to it with the office.
Clarify your enquiry
- Whether you are seeking assessment or psychotherapy
- Whether an employer, insurer or other party requested a report
- Any referral instructions, authorization question or deadline
Appointments are arranged through the practice. Call 289-396-9206 to discuss your enquiry.
Assessment for a defined purpose
The needs of a person seeking help for themselves may differ from the requirements of an organizational referral. Explain the general purpose when you contact the practice, including whether a report is being requested and who is expected to receive it.
If the enquiry involves workplace insurance, disability or return-to-work questions, identify that context without assuming the same process applies to every referral. Ask the office about the proposed scope and how the necessary instructions should be provided.
Make room for privacy and informed decisions
It is reasonable to ask about the clinician’s role, consent, confidentiality and communication with third parties before proceeding. These questions are particularly useful when a referral comes through an employer, insurer or case manager rather than directly from the person being assessed.
An initial email does not need a description of traumatic incidents or a detailed health history. Share contact details and the kind of appointment you are asking about, then arrange a suitable way to discuss the circumstances. WSIB and LTD enquiries have additional pages linked below.
Enquiries & referrals
Ask about a first-responder assessment
Contact the practice with the general purpose of the enquiry and whether a referring organization is involved. Ask about current assessment availability and the next step for your referral.
Please provide contact details only in your first email. The practice will explain how to share clinical or referral documents securely.
